One of our Apple sources has been communicating some internal Apple information to us, and from what we’ve been told, this weekend could be big. Currently, if you go to an Apple retail store and can’t find an iPad or iPhone 4, Apple will offer the ability to reserve one for you. These are “Priority Lists” and contain your name and information in addition to the specific device and configuration you want. These lists allow Apple to determine how to manage their channel inventory or possibly ramp up on production. Here’s the big news we’ve been told… Apple is apparently Read More...

It also apologized to users and said they remain free to return the phone within 30 days if they aren’t happy with it.
The company said in a letter to its users that it was “stunned” to learn that the formula it used to calculate how many bars of signal strength a phone has is totally wrong. Apple’s formula mistakenly displays two more bars than it should for a given signal strength. LeapFrog Enterprises has entertained millions of kids with its education books and handheld games. But in the age of Apple’s iPod Touch, it’s time for the company to take a big leap forward with its technology.
The Emeryville, Calif. company is announcing its new Leapster Explorer handheld touchscreen gaming system on Monday. It comes with cartridge-based educational games, but you can also download apps into it via a wired PC connection. The product will be available for preorder on Monday and will be in stores July 15.
“The new digital apps era is underway and we want to apply that technology to Read More...

Easy-Forex, a worldwide foreign exchange trading company, is making that even easier with its new product, TradeDesk.
Upon launch today, TradeDesk already has a desktop application and an iPhone application, with Blackberry and Android versions on the way, all designed to make trading easy, quick, and mobile.

On this cold Saturday, we’re paying homage to the origins of the concept by recognizing one of the seminal works in programming philosophy, and looking at a recent startup that’s taken it to heart.

If there is one thing that definitely needs catching up in the gadget industry, it’s battery technology and charging options. Powermat showed us where the future is headed in terms of battery capabilities and new ways to charge them. You’re all probably familiar with how Powermat works: you slip on Powermat’s case onto your iPhone or BlackBerry, or attach the corresponding plug to your device of choice, and place it on the mat for wireless charging. The real issue with current models is that the receivers can be a little gaudy for some of you with Powermat’s bulky cases. Embargoes aren’t as simple as they sound and they aren’t uncontroversial, either.
We believe they can be a good idea, though. Below we discuss why and share thoughts about how we think an embargo can be run well. If you’ve got comments to share, don’t be shy, that’s what the comments section of a blog is for.
